One of the Great things about having Family working in the wine industry is that you sometimes get to drink some wines that are sold out or not readily available.
My dad brought me one such wine from River Stone Estate Winery, their 2014 Malbec. This wine has been Sold Out for a bit, only 107 Cases were made and this one was from his collection.
80% of the fruit was left whole, uncrushed. The grapes were cold soaked between 3 – 5 days and then fermented in both stainless steel tanks and small fermentation totes to maximize skin to juice contact. Wine was aged in French oak barrels for about 14 months. This wine is still young and had a rich purple black color. Flavors of blackberry, raspberry and black cherry with slight oak. This is very tasty, juicy, pleasant, with energetic acid and silky tannins.
SCORE: 3 Corks
This wine is great wine now and will be better with a couple more years in the bottle.
